[UpDate 12:30pm] ex-SVPD DRUG COP MITCHELL FOUND DEAD, HANGING IN MARANA RESIDENCE

call for service from within home; official reports available Thursday

death confirmed by Marana Police Dept; rumors of suicide not confirmed =======

Monday, October 3, Marana police officers and Northwest Fire District personnel responded to a call of an unresponsive male found hanging at the 12000 block N Sable Palm Way in Marana.

The call for service originated from within the residence.

Former Sierra Vista police officer Mike Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene approx. 2:00pm. Sgt. Chris Warren, spokesperson for Marana PD, said there is no indication of foul play.

Official cause of death has not yet been announced. Police incident reports are expected to be available Thursday.
